It’s not about no limits it’s about weight limits

The X division has finally turned into the crusier weight divsion as it now has a 225pound weight limit requirement, making the dividson with no limits limited.

TNA’s (Total nonstop actions) Impact wrestling gives a rebirth to the division with no limitations by adding a 225 pound weight requirement for wrestler to enter in.

Similar to the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) cruiser weight division, the X Division was introduced in the early 2000s in TNA to show case wrestlers that could perform through high flying and risk taking style of wrestling. However, what is unique about the X division was the fact that there was no weight limit required. All Wrestlers from all type of sizes could perform their high flying action and be treated as equals. Wrestlers such as Soma Joe Kurt, Angle Abyss and others that gave birth to the catch phrase “It's not about weight limits, It’s about no limits.”

According to TNA’s story line "The Network” was so impressed with The “Destination X”, a pay preview(PPV) of wrestlers who were apart of the X division in one form or another, that they decided to enforce a weight requirement of 225 pounds or less. Granted aside from the weight limitation there was no actual difference between the cruiser weight division and the X division, but after examining the Destination X, the reasoning should be questioned.

Yes they were wrestlers who did wrestle 225 pounds and under in that PPV, but the match that was alleglly talked about involved wrestlers who were above that weight class. Even the champion Abyss at that night weiged 350pounds, which meant he and a few others were not supposed to be in that impressive Pay per View.  Other wrestlers including Rob Van Dam who weiged 237pounds, Soma Joe who is 280 pounds, who were thought by the fans to help improve the X division are restricted from doing so.

On the plus side it does separate it from other divisions, making their ranking system more organized. Also it could encourage wrestlers who are over the limit to fight over the television title, but that’s only if the TNA writers makes the title just as valuable as the X title. Seeing how the title is only defended when it’s time to drop the title.  we would have to see how both divisions process in the end.
